I think this would be the closest I ever will come to make a tutorial...
This is some shots I took while I was making the plaster holder for the silicone mould of the Chavant sculpture It is to be used to make a foam-latex stop motion puppet Description: 1.1-1.2: I started with building a clay border around the silicone mould, and also made a border over the back and tail, so that it will be in 3 parts. 1.3: I spread a thin layer of plaster, covering every part of the side I'm going to plaster at the moment. Then I just make the layer thicker. 1.4: I put in some thick steel wire to reinforce and make it more durable. 1.5-1.7: I follow now with two more layers of plaster, with a layer of plaster bandage as more reinforcement. 2.1-2.4: when starting on the other side, I first took away the clay separation line, and put a layer of Vaseline on the plaster. then I made the same procedure as on the first side of the mould. making sure that the plaster don't get over to the other side 3.1-3.3: And the same gos for the front of the mould. First of with the clay, Vaseline, and then fill it with plaster. When the plaster had hardened I used a knife to carve the edges so that the thin line between the part show. I have not taken them apart jet, because it has to harden a bit more. Part 1: How I made the silicone mould [link] TO BE CONTINUED... |
